I would love to assist you in furthering your children’s, or your swimming ability.
My goal is to be sure that if someone ever falls into the water, they have the calm sense of what to do. I empower my students with confidence that they can! All this is done while teaching one to swim.
The first step is to improve confidence! The students will learn to lean out into the pool towards the center and then turn around to get back to either the wall, the steps, or roll over onto their backs to rest.
When working with the students, I go at “their pace” with a slight push to move forward as we continue to build confidence. Once they have mastered this we progress into improving their swim strokes (freestyle and backstroke). Then we begin instruction on the remaining swimming strokes (elementary backstroke, sidestroke, breaststroke, butterfly) and eventually get to the point of learning life saving skills. This gives the students the knowledge of what to do if an accident happens and how to assist someone in need.
All children are capable of saving a life with just a few basic swim skills and strengths.
Learning how to swim is simply not enough! You must be able to survive under any water conditions. Each student is unique and our progressive “gentle” approach is focused on each individual’s needs, fears and abilities. As one develops confidence in the water they will learn water safety.
My thoughts are everyone should enjoy being in and around the water. All the activities that we do are geared around the “fun” aspect. Swimming is a lifelong skill that should be enjoyed by all.
SWIMMING INSTRUCTION IS NOT ENOUGH — “LEARNING TO SURVIVE IS EVERYTHING!”
Generally sessions consist of nine private lessons with each lesson lasting 20 or 30 minutes, depending on the student’s ability and endurance. We maintain a heated 90-degree salt-water pool in Oak Park. Classes are held on Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday. We have an assortment of times available depending on your choice of days.
